1. Zimbabwe is a country located in the continent of Africa. The capital of this African country is Harare and is known for several rock formations called “balancing rocks”.

2. The balancing formation shown on the above picture, which is known as “Mother and Child” inselberg, is located in Matopos National Park.

3. The Mother and Child inselberg is the most spectacular Balancing Rock formation and is located on the Motabo Hills.

4. This astonishing balancing rock formation is situated at 1,473 meters above sea level.

5. The most notable balancing rocks made of igneous rocks are those located in Matopos National Park located near Epson town.

6. Epson Township is located to the southeast of Harare, the country’s capital.

7. The formations in the park are of natural occurrence in a perfectly balanced state without other support.

8. These balancing rocks were featured on certain issues and current series of Zimbabwean banknotes that eventually escalated the popularity of these tourist attractions.

9. These formations are also known as Balancing Rocks Kopjes and have been used as a metaphorical theme to explain the importance of development coupled with preserving the fragile environment of Zimbabwe.

10. These fascinating formations came to existence when ancient granite intrusions were exposed to weathering, as softer rocks around them eroded.

11. The Balancing Rocks of Zimbabwe are seen in the form of huge angular blocks of granite "piled on top of and beside one another, forming pillars and stacks, like a child's building blocks."

12. There are also natural shelters formed by the rock formations at the Matopos National Park and have been in existence since the Stone Age.
